A Utah businessman is winning both fans and foes in his community with an interesting rule at his smoothie shop: Liberals must pay an extra $1. George Burnett, who first became famous in Vernal by walking around with a sandwich board reading, "Honk If You (Heart) Drilling" to advertise his first business, donates the proceeds from the liberal "tax" to conservative organizations including the Heritage Foundation, reports KSL.com.

"I'm very open about it, very public about it, that I'm going to charge them a little bit more, and I have liberals come in and pay the extra dollar surcharge," Burnett tells KSL. "And actually all three liberals have been happy to pay it." Of course, not everyone loves the idea: Burnett's Facebook page is peppered with angry comments. But Burnett says he just wants to bring awareness to US fiscal problems and what he sees as too much regulation of the energy industry. (More strange stuff stories.)
