Hungry Pistons Don't Give Spurs a Chance

Posted Jan 11, 08 3:39 AM CST in Sports

(Newser) – The Pistons went on a 22-2 scoring run late in the first quarter to put last night's game permanently out of San Antonio's reach, the San Antonio Express-News reports. "They're tough to play," said the Spurs' Tony Parker of the team that defeated the defending champions 90-80. Elsewhere in the paint:

  • Leandro Barbosa had 25 points and Amare Stoudemire grabbed 14 boards, but without Steve Nash Phoenix had no hope against an uneven Utah team, losing 108-86.
  • Though full of flu meds, John Salmons put up 28 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds, and Francisco Garcia made the winning 3-pointer in Sacramento's 116-113 win over Memphis.
