Electrical fire causes underground explosions

(Newser) – Talk about pyrotechnics: Several manhole covers in downtown Omaha popped their lids and spouted fire last night after an electrical blaze caused underground explosions, Gawker reports. What's more, a local resident somehow snapped a photo of the moment. Omaha public workers were still trying to restore power downtown this morning, when about 100 people had no electricity. At its worst, the blackout left nearly 3,000 customers in the dark, reports WOWT-TV.

actually, this can happen anywhere,,,it is a reason that we do need to fix our infrastructure,,,,our city took xrays of our downtown area streets recently and found that sinkholes and washed out caverns prevail underground there,,,,water , gas, and sewer pipes are literally hanging in mid air with little support,,,,we have already had a few gas explosions and deaths because of this problem....
