Apparently Marlee Matlin and John Stamos are still friends, because she recently tweeted this picture of them together.   (Twitter)

(Newser) – Chances are you were not shocked when Rihanna and Chris Brown got back together. But you may be surprised to hear that Marlee Matlin dated John Stamos back in the '80s. Such is the nature of the 161 (yes, really) surprising celebrity hookups rounded up by ET Online:

  • Before she was a current-day rom-com star, Katherine Heigl dated '90s heartthrob Joey Lawrence.
  • And before she got together with Ellen DeGeneres, Anne Heche dated Steve Martin.

  • Mr. Big and ... Winona Ryder?! Yes, Sex and the City star Chris Noth dated the actress in 2000, briefly.
  • Pamela Anderson can always be proud of the fact that she once, in 2006, dated Kim Kardashian's sex tape partner, Ray J.
  • TRL host Carson Daly dated Ashlee Simpson in 2003.
  • Before he married Beyonce, Jay-Z dated Rosario Dawson in 2000.
  • Funnyman Jack Black very briefly dated funny lady Kathy Griffin.
  • But Liam Neeson's relationship with Helen Mirren was no fling—it started in 1981 and lasted four years.

This is a ridiculous article... what's surprising about people having dated other people? Oh, they're "stars"? You know what gets to me... "stars", at least according to the gossip columns, are not allowed a few dates to discover whether or not they're compatible with others, nor to have casual dates. No, "stars" are expected to start dating [ie, serious relationship] with full knowledge and participation of the other person, even from the beginning. Otherwise, it becomes a hookup that went wrong, or cheating, or some other nonsensical aberration of the courtship process. I sometimes feel sorry for "stars". They aren't allowed to just move on, date casually or have friendships with the opposite sex.
