(Newser) – Katie Couric has a depressing mystery on her hands: At 2am every Tuesday, a phone line registered to her husband calls 911. The depressing part: Her husband, Jay Monahan, has been dead since 1998. There have been at least 10 calls so far, and each time a patrol officer has responded to Couric's home. Couric told the story to her audience during a break while taping her talk show this week, and audience members passed it on to the New York Daily News.

"Katie said it was especially disturbing because it came in on her late husband Jay Monahan’s landline, which she has kept all this time," says one audience member. Couric called NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly for help, and he started an investigation. Authorities think someone might be illegally hijacking the phone via a device, according to a police source.  Oh boo fr i g g i t y hoo for her liberal a*s.  Anybody else would have been fined or jailed for allowing this to continue.  The law should MAKE her shut off the phone, or start charging her at least  $5000 dollars in fines every time it happens.   It's HER idiocy in having to have the phone line that is causing the problem.  Shut it off and no more issue to worry about.

Wow, what is wrong with some of you people? Her husband died from cancer she didn't kill him for those of you who are a dim bulb. Who is to say what someone should and shouldn't do when someone they love dies. If she wants to keep her husbands landline whose business is it to tell her not to? It has to be awful for her to have to experience something like this. She shouldn't have to change something she has had all these years because some ass is hacking into the system. Whoever it is just needs to be caught and stopped. Wow! I can' believe how callous some of you are.

I was actually going to add a comment to this article; but all the other stuff posted is so misinformed and idiotic, that I think I will just pass on adding a comment.
