Perfect Patriots Pound Jaguars

Posted Jan 12, 08 11:33 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Tom Brady has been breaking records all season, and Saturday was no different. New England's quarterback completed 26 of 28 passes in leading the perfect Patriots to a 31-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL playoffs, reports the AP. Brady's 92.6% completion percentage broke Phil Simms' post-season record of 88% set in the 1987 Super Bowl.

The win puts the Patriots (17-0) in a second straight AFC championship game. The Patriots also matched the 1972 Dolphins with the best start ever. Brady threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns, despite Randy Moss catching only one pass. Lawrence Maroney rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown, and Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew were held to 66 yards combined for Jacksonville.
