Rudy's Camp Beseeches Donors

Posted Jan 13, 08 12:16 PM CST in Politics

(Newser) – Rudy Giuliani's campaign is urgently requesting funds, the New York Daily News reports, seemingly contradicting the camp’s denials of financial hardship. While staffers are going without paychecks this month—voluntarily, they say—Giuliani’s campaign manager emailed a plea to prospective donors yesterday. “I am asking you to dig a little deeper," he wrote. "Will you help us one more time?"

Giuliani reportedly had as much as $7 million at the end of December, but an expensive ad blitz in Florida—his campaign is said to have spent $700,000 last week alone—might have emptied his reserves. The former NYC mayor is focusing on the Sunshine State, with its many former New Yorkers, after placing at the bottom of the Iowa and New Hampshire piles.
