Man Uses NYT Obit to Air Hatred of ... NYT

Amos Shuchman not a fan of the 'New York Times'

(Newser) – An Upper West Sider who detested the New York Times got the last laugh—by airing his hatred for the Times ... in an obituary published in the Times. The paid death notice for Amos Shuchman, 84, an Israeli-born retired stockbroker, read in part: "Loved everything about NYC, except the New York Times." Why the disdain? Shuchman was "deeply committed to principles of individual freedom and to the security of the United States and Israel," his son tells the New York Post.

"To put it diplomatically, he did not believe that the Times provided honest and objective reporting on these and other important matters," Daniel Shuchman adds, noting that his father might be a bit peeved at having generated any revenue for the paper by way of the attention-grabber. A rep for the Times says she found the whole thing "sort of amusing." Daily Intelligencer has a shot of the obit.

The New York Times is elitist for elitism's sake, to keep up an appearance of being "intellectual" when it's really mostly propaganda. There is absolutely no excuse for the extremely biased manner in which they lauded the wrongful demotion of planet Pluto in a 2006 editorial. The editors refused to consider that the decision by four percent of the IAU was political and to note that hundreds of professional astronomers opposed that decision in a formal petition.

He was uninformed, considering it was a NYT reporter (Judith Miller) who printed Cheney's lies to lead us into Iraq (with Israel's approval).    The New York Times is solidly behind the Israel lobby.
