McCain Holds Narrow Edge in Mich.

Posted Jan 14, 08 7:57 AM CST in Politics

(Newser) – John McCain holds a slim lead over Mitt Romney going into tomorrow’s primary in Michigan, according to the latest Reuters/C-Span/Zogby poll. The Arizona senator leads Romney 27% to 24%, within the poll’s margin of error. “It’s very close, and it’s been very close every day that we’ve polled,” says pollster John Zogby. Mike Huckabee holds third with 15%; everyone else is in single digits.

“Democrats and independents are giving McCain whatever edge he has,” Zogby says;  both can vote in either primary in Michigan. Nearly a fifth of McCain’s supporters say they’d made up their minds in the days after the New Hampshire primary. “He’s getting a little bump,” Zogby says. Hillary Clinton is the only top-tier Democratic candidate on Michigan's Democratic ballot.
