Pilot Killed in S.C. Blue Angel Crash

First crash of elite Navy flyers since 1999

(Newser) – Navy Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Davis crashed his F/A-18 Hornet jet fighter today during an air show in Beaufort, SC where he and five other members of the Blue Angel demonstration team were flying. The crash took the pilot’s life and also injured eight people on the ground.

The accident occurred in front of thousands of spectators, including some of his family members. The Navy reported that it will take some weeks to determine the cause of the crash.
