8 Musicians Kicked Out of Bands They Founded The latest: Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots By Evann Gastaldo, Newser Staff Posted Mar 10, 2013 12:18 PM CDT 18 comments Comments Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots performs during the Ninth Annual Gran Turismo awards Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 in Las Vegas. (Isaac Brekken/AP Images for Sony PlayStation) (Newser) – Scott Weiland was confused when Stone Temple Pilots announced he'd been fired. "Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band I founded" was his response, according to the Week. But these seven other musicians experienced the same thing: After just a year in Metallica, guitarist Dave Mustaine was kicked out over his addiction problems. The other band members broke the news by giving him a Greyhound bus ticket instead of a plane ticket to their next show. He went on to found Megadeth. It was addiction that got Brian Jones expelled from the Rolling Stones as well. After too much partying, he was kicked out, and was found dead in his swimming pool a month later. Apparently Glen Matlock liked the Beatles and Paul McCartney a little too much, and that's what got him booted from the Sex Pistols.
