(Newser) – Venezuela is giving Hugo Chavez the Mao treatment: His body will go on permanent display at a museum near the presidential palace, reports AP. Chavez will be in a glass casket so "his people will always have him," says VP Nicolas Maduro. The state funeral for Chavez—who died with an estimated net worth of $1 billion—takes place tomorrow morning.

So will they polyurethane his carcass so that it doesn't rot? Inject him with some kind of preservative?

Ah.  A glass casket.  That explains it.  When I first heard they were going to put the body on display, I figured that they'd do so in the manner most befitting his rule.  Assuming that, I naturally couldn't figure out how such a display would be "permanent," since sooner or later putrefaction would cause his carcass to slip from the rope by which he was hanging from the lamppost.
