The New York Post got an early look at Gwyneth Paltrow's second cookbook, out April 2, and it deems the tome "a recipe for ridicule." It's All Good starts with Paltrow telling a story about how, in 2011, she thought she was going to die. Turns out she was just having a panic attack combined with a migraine, and her doctor put her on a three-week elimination diet to "clear out [her] system, heal [her] gut, and revive her [body]." The cookbook includes recipes from that diet, which forbids—among other things—dairy, gluten, sugar, coffee, eggs, shellfish, deepwater fish, potatoes, tomatoes, bell pepper, eggplant, corn, and meat.
"When we mere mortals feel faint and off-kilter and fear we’re having a major health emergency, and really we’ve just gotten too much sun or had too little to eat, we file away our crazy little moment among our embarrassing stories shared only with close friends and family," writes Hailey Eber. "But when Gwyneth Paltrow has such an episode, she writes a cookbook." It comes off "like the manifesto to some sort of creepy healthy-girl sorority," and the worst part is how conflicted Paltrow seems to be about her relationship to food—first talking about her love for Parmesan, then noting that she and everyone else in her family can't eat dairy.
