Kapiti’s controversial new tourism logo.   (Kapiti Observer)

(Newser) – It doesn't take much to get New Zealanders salivating, apparently: A new logo for a regional tourist campaign has caused a stir over its "pornographic" imagery, reports the Telegraph. The sexy symbol in question? A bisected letter "k" with the top arm curved to look like a mountain—but some think it better resembles a bent leg, which is apparently what passes for erotica in the country's small Kapiti Coast region these days.

"I have had feedback from the public that this 'k' image with its bent leg, at the knee, is more than mildly pornographic," says one community member. "Perhaps the caption underneath could be 'come to Kapiti and let the earth move for you.'" Another argued it looked more like the Loch Ness monster. But at least one member of the local council is on board with the image. "It captures the hills, and the coast," he tells the Kapiti Observer. "Pornography is in the eye of the beholder."
