April 22, 2013: It's not just Earth Day, people. It's also the date that will go down in history as the moment McDonald's offered a yolk-free Egg McMuffin nationwide. The Daily Meal reports that the egg-white version, dubbed the Egg White Delight, shaves 50 calories off the standard version's 300. It's also, per McDonald's, a "premium option." Unlike its competitors' microwaved preparation, the whites will be fried "free-form on the griddle with a spatula," explains the Daily Meal, then placed on a whole-grain English muffin and topped with Canadian bacon and a slice of white cheddar. The Christian Science Monitor adds that customers will be able to order egg-white-only versions of McDonald's other breakfast sandwich for an undisclosed added charge. (More McDonald's stories.)
