Real-Life Bart Simpson on Trial Before 'Mr. Burns'

Court coincidence has UK news agency snickering

(Newser) – Normally, a routine court appearance by a guy in the UK accused of possessing an illegal gun at an airport wouldn't become a buzzy little Internet story, but the guy's name happens to be Barton Simpson and the judge is identified as "Mr. Recorder Burns." Get it? “It’s a bizarre coincidence that Bart Simpson is actually on trial in front of Mr. Burns but it’ll proceed as any other criminal case would," an employee of Warwick Crown Court tells the SWNS news agency. SWNS, by the way, helpfully identifies Bart as the "fictional yellow star in the hit sitcom The Simpsons."
