Selig Endures Another Grilling on Doping

Posted Jan 15, 08 3:00 PM CST in US Sports

(Newser) – Commissioner Bud Selig and union leader Donald Fehr were back in front of a congressional committee today, joined by ex-senator George Mitchell, to answer questions about Mitchell's report on steroids in the sport. Selig in particular was grilled over his own role. "This scandal happened under your watch. I want that to sink in. It did. Do you accept responsibility for this scandal?" demanded Elijah Cummings.

Selig responded that he has agonized over whether he acted quickly enough to address the issue in the past, the AP reports. "All of us have to take responsibility, starting with me," he said. Oversight Committee chairman Henry Waxman kicked off the hearing by asking the Justice Department to investigate whether 2002 AL MVP Miguel Tejada lied to the committee when it met in 2005.
