(Newser) – Karl Rove won't have Ashley Judd to kick around anymore. The actress tweeted today that she will not run for Senate in Kentucky this fall. Judd thanked all those who had encouraged her in recent months, but "after serious and thorough contemplation, I realize that my responsibilities & energy at this time need to be focused on my family. " (The full statement is on her website.) Democrats think minority leader Mitch McConnell is vulnerable, but it won't be the liberal Judd who tries to unseat him. It didn't help that while she is a native Kentuckian, Judd lives in Tennessee most of the time now, reports Politico. Its report notes that she spoke to Harry Reid this week.

Democrats don't want her to run because the GOP will only talk about her "Hollywood" personality. Republicans prefer to detract from their abysmal ideas and trying to enrich the 2% even more. Why talk about jobs when you can talk about abortion. Why talk about anything of substance when it's easier to shut down the business of Congress? Why go before the cameras and defend the 2% when all you need to do is steal elections?

Hollywood ego I call it just because she can say lines in front of camera she thinks she is actaully smart. What a loss for society not having her giant intellect on the floor of the senate. I was hoping she would stay in just for the entertainment value she is train wreck. Maybe Sean Penn will pick up the torch with his racist homophobe son.

Not really surprised at this news. Maybe she and Dario Franchitti will get back together. They were a really cute couple who seemed to have a lot of love and respect for each other. www.survivingparadise.info
