Kucinich, Paul Challenged on Home Front

Posted Jan 16, 08 10:58 AM CST in Politics

(Newser) – While Dennis Kucinich is out on the presidential campaign trail, no fewer than four Democrats in his Ohio home district are mounting primary challenges for the longtime congressman's seat, Politico reports. And though Ron Paul's anti-war stance and unconventional views have drawn a fervent national following, conservative voters in his home district in Texas are taking a second look at their rep.

Both men face the very real prospect of their long-shot campaigns unseating them at home. One rival's campaign literature accuses Kucinich of wasting time "traveling around the country waging an impractical and distracting quest to become president of the United States.” And a more conventionally conservative primary challenger is allaying voter worries over Paul's criticism of native son President Bush.
