Gritty Raptors Get Even With Nets

Posted Apr 25, 07 9:59 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – The Toronto Raptors won their first playoff game in nearly five years last night, beating the New Jersey Nets 89-83 to even their best-of-seven series at one game apiece. Toronto used a 31-point fourth quarter to overcome a five-point deficit.

The young Raptors got 26 points from Anthony Parker and 25 from star Chris Bosh, as they held Nets stars Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson to just 12-40 shooting from the floor combined. Nets head coach Lawrence Frank complimented his rivals: “There’s a reason why we missed shots. They affected them.”
