The 43-year-old got an extra-special assault charge because the alleged incident happened in front of kids ages 10 to 12. Witnesses say the coach argued a call, got ejected, then gave the 17-year-old umpire an open-handed thwack to the ear. The teen wasn't hurt. Thomas Murphy has been suspended from all league events in the interim.
