(Newser) Iron Man 3 had a massive opening weekend on American soil as expected, but its $175.3 million debut was only good enough for No. 2 of all time, falling well short of The Avengers' $207.4 million. It's still nothing to sneeze at, as Robert Downey Jr. and Co. have now taken in $680.1 million globally, notes the Hollywood Reporter, and managed to dethrone the final Harry Potter installment. Other movies did in fact exist this weekend, though quietly: Pain & Gain made $7.6 million to claim the No. 2 spot; 42 was third with $6.2 million; and Oblivion was fourth with $5.8 million. Let's see, there's a bad guy, probably a terrorist or similar, then there's a good guy, Mr. Iron man, then there's a girl interest, then there's an incident, then a fight, then another fight, then the final fight in which Iron Man barely wins. Cars, bridges, buildings get blown up. End of story. In between there's insipid stupid trite conversation. Academy Award for making bucket loads of money for spectacular special effects. For a home movie with pop corn on Friday it's okay. And very forgettable I'm sure.

i seen it the first day early and it was about 75 people mid-day on a friday. so you see the movie was good and i was smiling this time about tony/ pepper relationship. their closer and in love. show a side of tony as being human, funny and loving. i hope they get marry in 4th of iron man and pass the suit down to his SON. action in the movie was great. the iron man suit's was good to. who ever design those suits of iron man this time did a great job. mr. downey did great as always and mrs. gwen did good and loving her man , IRON MAN. so you see we must go on , i hope to see them in a 4th movie.........GREAT JOB AND MONEY WELL SPENT A TRUE MARVEL FAN OF IRON MAN

Saw it last night. I give it a good 6 outta 10. It wasn't Xmen 3 bad, or Spiderman3 bad. In fact the first 2/3rds of it are stellar. It kinda suffers from 3rd movie "too much sh*t goin on" syndrome. I realllllllly don't like how they played the last 20 minutes and sincerely was bummed with how they played the villain :( So far it doesn't crack my top 5 of superhero flicks
