Unlikely thief-thwarting device of the day: chili. Police say a 24-year-old man tried to push two workers aside at a chicken restaurant in Sydney, Australia, last night so he could get to the cash register. But a female employee "responded with a bucket of chili over his face, it was the actual chili that's got in the face and floored him," a police officer tells the Sydney Morning Herald. The alleged would-be thief was treated for minor burns. The Daily Telegraph explains that the "weapon" is a spicy chili sauce the Portugese restaurant says is a secret recipe.
