Was the alleged CIA agent nabbed by Russian authorities yesterday looking for information on the Boston Marathon bombing? The Kommersant, a daily Russian paper known for its connections to KGB-successor FSB, thinks that's likely. In a report spotted and translated by the AFP, the paper draws a connection between Ryan Fogle's alleged attempt to recruit a Russian intelligence officer and an April trip by a US delegation to Dagestan—the region that Tamerlan Tsarnaev traveled to last year. Its take:

  • "It is likely that during the trip in April the US side obtained the phone numbers of (Russian FSB) agents. Clearly, they then decided to use it to have personal contacts with anti-terror agents, given that the exchange of information in the form of question and answers between special services is not always quick and smooth."
