Clemens Headed for the Hill

(Newser) – Roger Clemens, fighting back hard against being named in the Mitchell Report on performance-enhancing drugs in baseball, will continue that strategy on Jan. 26, when he answers questions from Congressional committee staff about the topic under oath, in advance of planned public hearings, reports the New York Times. "Roger looks forward to telling the truth," said his attorney, Rusty Hardin.

Hardin says Clemens' appearance should improve his client's credibility because of the threat of perjury charges. Clemens' former trainer, Brian McNamee, who claimed steroid use by Clemens, has also been invited for a deposition as well as friend and former teammate Andy Pettitte. If Clemens' testimony contradicts McNamee's, which it's likely to, he could end up dealing with the FBI.
