John Daly said a nagging rib injury forced him to pull out of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in Pam Desert, Calif. Saturday after playing three rounds. The Los Angeles Times, however, reports that Daly, who was tied to 75th, has been a regular at all the late-night tournament parties and failed to show for his 9:33 a.m. tee time Saturday.

Daly, who has had alcohol problems throughout his career, attended two more parties Friday night ,and told a reporter to ignore that he was drinking. Eyewitnesses said Daly was helped out of the second party by an unidentified man. Daly has now pulled out of 12 PGA Tour events the past two years. He injured his rib in March when he interrupted a swing at the Honda Classic when a fan's photo shutter distracted him, reports Reuters. (More John Daly stories.)
