No More Mr., Mrs. Nice Dems

Posted Jan 20, 08 12:09 PM CST in Politics

(Newser) – Despite measured tones at Tuesday’s debate, the Nevada race was a dirty one for the leading Dems, Politico reports. The mudslinging began when Hillary Clinton said the Culinary Workers Union was scaring its members into supporting Barack Obama. The Illinois senator, for his part, did not prevent a union-backed Spanish-language ad which said “Hillary Clinton does not respect our people.”

“I guess this is how the West was won," Clinton told cheering supporters after the caucus results became clear. Obama's campaign manager issued a pointed statement that accused the Clinton campaign of "an entire week's worth of false, divisive attacks designed to mislead caucus-goers and discredit the caucus itself."
