(Newser) – Ron Paul is afraid the US government aims to kill NSA leaker Edward Snowden—if it can find him. "I'm worried about somebody in our government might kill him with a cruise missile or a drone missile," the Republican said in a Fox interview, praising Snowden for exposing secret surveillance. "We live in a bad time where American citizens don’t even have rights and that they can be killed, but the gentlemen is trying to tell the truth about what’s going on."

Ron Paul—whose campaign received two donations from Snowden last year—says the whistleblower is no traitor, but the American people have been fed propaganda that claim "if you’re not for NSA spying on people, then you’re un-American, you’re unpatriotic, you hate America." Snowden has dropped out of sight, but is believed to still be in Hong Kong—an unlikely target for a drone strike, since it is both Chinese territory and one of the world's most densely populated places.
