"Dog Whisperer" Cesar Millan attempted suicide three years ago, he reveals in a new interview airing on Rock Center tomorrow. His pit bull, Daddy, had died; his relationship with his sons faltered after his wife of 16 years asked for a divorce; even amid all his TV fame, he was broke. "It's like, 'OK, I'm a failure. The reason why this has happened is because of me,'" he says. "I took a whole bunch of pills and tried to kill myself."

He says he wanted to die, but his kids called paramedics and he was saved. He woke up in a psychiatric hospital to discover that his fellow patients were also fans; Millan says that gave him "a sense of belonging. I got a sense of purpose." He turned things around, and now has a new show: Cesar Millan's Leader of the Pack. (More Cesar Millan stories.)
