(Newser) – Things Americans have more confidence in than Congress, according to the latest Gallup poll: the police, organized religion, banks, big business, HMOs ... and literally everything else pollsters asked them about. Congress came in last on the list of 16 institutions for the fourth consecutive year, and this year found the lowest level of confidence in Congress—or any other institution on record—since Gallup started asking in 1973. Just 10% of respondents said they had a "great deal" or "quite a lot" of confidence in the legislative body, while 52% said they had "very little" or no confidence in it.

To many people that are not prevey to the fact our government representatives have no reason to do anything for the country. Recesses are for children to play and get to socialize with others. Why should congress do a damn thing for us.. they got what they want. a fat paycheck, a fat retirement, a fat health care, a fat bunch of days off every year, I even have a news video of a House Member from a News cast saying he was going to do nothing, set on his hands and do nothing! That's what's going on and the voting america are blind to it and don't care one way or the other because they believe there is nothing they can do or anything can be done about this! I'm pretty sure when election time comes around once again this person will no longer be a member of our Congress because of his statements! I also believe that there are a bunch of them thinking the same thing. Why should they do anything.. ever wonder why the chambers are so empty when it's time to vote on some legislation?
