(Newser) – It sounds like something out of a bad sitcom, but apparently Russell Brand really did break up with Katy Perry via text message, Perry recently revealed. "Let's just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011," she said. E! rounds up six more celebrities whose breakup methods leave something to be desired:

  • Matt Damon: He seems like such a nice guy, right? But he announced his breakup with Minnie Driver ... on Oprah, meaning Driver found out about it at the same time you did.

  • Daniel Day-Lewis: No, despite the rumors, he did not break up with Isabelle Adjani via fax ... but the real story is even worse. Adjani says she told him she was pregnant, and then "we never saw each other again. He never told me it was over."
  • Sylvester Stallone: He broke up with Jennifer Flavin via a six-page letter sent by FedEx. But apparently Flavin didn't mind too much, because they ended up getting back together and getting married.

How about Phil Spector? He just plain murdered his wife to break up. Sounds like pretty bad etiquette to me.

How does Taylor Swift not make it here? She's in all the other articles for chrissakes. Would you like to be dumped in a hit song?

Donald Trump ditched one of his wives by telling the New York Post and then leaving the paper, with the headline, on her pillow to wake up to. Phil Collins ditched one wife by email (or answering machine message, can't remember which).. Clint Eastwood dumped Sondra Locke by having all the locks on the house changed while she was out one afternoon. Those are a few others I can think of. As I recall Katie Perry was the one who wanted the divorce and insisted that HE initiate it and file the paperwork so as not to offend her religious family and he obliged.
