The couple apparently had car trouble in the middle of what's aptly called the Empty Quarter, a desolate stretch of sand more than 600 miles wide where temperatures top 120 degrees and dunes rise to the height of city buildings. The woman was found in or near their SUV and the husband about 6 miles away in an apparently desperate attempt to get help, reports the Telegraph. Police say they had run out of water.
