'Model Prisoner' Sutherland Leaves Jail

24 star served 48 days for DUI, 'never griped'

(Newser) – Actor Kiefer Sutherland walked out of a California jail today after serving all 48 days of his sentence for DUI and violating probation, People reports. The 24 star looked "glad to be out," said a prison spokesman. Sutherland did his time in an 8-by-10 cell, spending his birthday, Christmas, and New Year's in the can.

"Throughout his stay, he never griped, never complained," said the spokesman. "He never wanted preferential treatment from the get-go, and we respect him for that." Sutherland had no visitors aside from his lawyer and wasn’t much involved with other inmates. What’s next for Jack Bauer's alter ego? Five years’ probation and 18 months of alcohol classes, plus 6 months of therapy.
