Celtics Blow Out Lowly Knicks

Posted Jan 21, 08 10:04 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – A 109-93 Boston win over the Knicks today is hardly a surprise, but how they did it was, as center Kendrick Perkins, who's never mistaken for Tim Duncan, had a career-high 24 points. Meanwhile, the game got testy late, with two ejections and New York coach Isiah Thomas becoming agitated after taunts by a Celtics player, reports the Post. Elsewhere:

  • Atlanta forced Portland's Travis Outlaw to shoot an outside jumper and paid for it as Outlaw won the game with 0.9 seconds left in overtime, 111-109. The loss overshadowed Joe Johnson's 37-point effort.
  • Kareem Rush and Mike Dunleavy scored 25 and 24 points respectively as Indiana moved into a tie for eighth in the East, beating Philly 110-103.
