(Newser) – Lauryn Hill has started serving a three-month prison sentence in Connecticut for failing to pay about $1 million in taxes over the past decade. A spokesman for the federal Bureau of Prisons says the Grammy-winning singer reported today to the federal prison in Danbury. The onetime Fugees singer pleaded guilty last year in New Jersey to failing to pay taxes on more than $1.8 million earned from 2005 to 2007; she had faced a maximum sentence of one year each on three counts of failing to file taxes. I really do not have any sympathy for Ms. Hill, Wesley Snipes, or Nicholas Cage for that matter. I for damm sure do not condone all government agenices, but at one time these celebrities have made a lot of money, and had huge assets. If one is making huge amounts of money then they pay accordingly. Poor people, such as myself, make a living, we are charged taxes and pay it, end of story. I am not an accountant or anything, but any fool can log on to turbo tax and figure out how much you owe the IRS every year. Pay your taxes and you wont go to jail. Redd Foxx was an uneducated man, who relied on the wrong people to handle his money, This is not the 40, & 50's we are smarter than that. Just this tax payers opinion.

In case you all haven't noticed, this isn't an article about Mitt Romney or other money bags dudes. It's about Ms. Lauren Hill. NOW, as for the judgment on her, it's bogus, probably racially motivated, as was the Wesley Snipes thing. If they received bad advice and that could be proven, then the accountants should go to jail, the stars pay the back taxes, and if you really wanna be a douche, put said celebrity under house arrest. There! I'm done. Seacrest, out!
