(Newser) – Eliot Spitzer might have cried on TV this morning, but we can't say for sure. He appeared, at least, to get emotional during an interview on MSNBC's Morning Joe, after host Mika Brzezinski asked him to give a heartfelt answer to the question: "How are you different than you were five, six years ago?" His reply: "A lot of pain. A lot of pain. You go through that pain, you've changed." Not everyone thinks there were tears, however, Politico notes. Commentary and New York Post journalist John Podhoretz tweeted: "He didn't cry. He tried to cry." Click for more on just what drives the comebacks of Spitzer and other fallen politicians.

All working people (even politicos) have a private/family life. I like no one who betrays their marriage. But, that's not the job. Spitzer is super competent, and can do a great job for the citizens of New York. I'd rather the media not focus on the yellow journalism stuff, and ask him what he offers as a candidate. If I want trash talk, I know where to find a Nat'l Inquirer.

Why do we always trash men when they get a bit emotional? A man that doesn't know how to cry is a fool. Lets support men as they find their humanity, instead of humiliating them.

I've seen quite a few similar situations--his pain is zilch compared to that of the family he betrayed. I first saw the pain as a child and would never inflict it on anyone.
