(Newser) – A former president of South Africa says he expects Nelson Mandela to soon be discharged from the hospital to recuperate at home. Thabo Mbeki was speaking at a memorial service for another ANC leader when he said that he was "quite certain" Mandela would be going home, reports South Africa's Eyewitness News. Mandela, who has been hospitalized for more than five weeks for a lung infection and is reportedly on life support, turns 95 on Thursday.

Recuperate ... to what? In the pics I've seen the man looks ohhh .. sooo ... weary ... and they keep treating him over and over, this time for weeks ... so he can go home ... ... to what ... another few weeks of weary debilitation before the next bout of lung infection so he can go to the hospital again ... and again ... ... and again? Even great men must die. Even true icons, actual nation builders, cherished and loved leaders of men ... must die. May we find it in our souls to let that happen peacefully, comfortably, at home, in the circle of his family.
