The "carpool" has finally gone literal: Four men decided to beat the heat in Eibenstock, Germany, on Sunday by taking a ride in a convertible—only this was "a convertible of a slightly different kind," according to police. Carved out, sealed, and filled with some 530 gallons of water, it had been transformed into a swimming pool on wheels, complete with blue bottom, der Spiegel reports. It drew police attention when an officer saw water splash out—and with its single working gear and top speed of 15.5mph, the bathers didn't get far.

What the officer found, per the Daily Mail: A "roofless BMW, without registration plates, bordered around the open top with wooden boards and fake plastic flowers." He also spotted a driver inside, plus two men in bathing suits and a third sitting on the trunk, dipping his toes in. All took off, but when the 27-year-old who was believed to be the driver returned to get his things, police got a blood sample; if he was drunk, he could face charges. One of the men told Bild, "the ride was a stupid idea. It was the first time we drove on a street and we just wanted to have a little fun." Funny footnote: Police aren't actually sure if driving a swimming pool is illegal. (More weird crimes stories.)
