(Newser) – Wendy Davis fans might want to look away: It turns out that more Americans support the 20-week abortion ban she filibustered than oppose it. In a new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, 44% said they supported the limit, while 37% opposed. Even among people who described themselves as pro-choice, nearly one in five were fine with the ban.

But conservatives shouldn't get too cocky. The poll also showed that 52% are worried Republicans will go too far on social issues like abortion and gay rights, compared to 43% who weren't concerned. By contrast, 51% said they were not worried about Democrats going too far on social issues; that number was 55% for President Obama.

I think it should be limited to the first trimester. If you can't decide by then, then you should keep the baby.

After having shared so many horror stories of couples terrorized by their kids' terrible two's, I really think abortion should be legal for up to two years after the birth of a child.

People get all animated about protecting abortion. Even the one where they baby is born up to the head. Then the "doctor" drills a hole in the back of the brain and suck out the innards. It twitches and groans until it goes lifeless and dead. That's the face of abortion. Hey, I'm against the death penalty also. We need to end sponsored death. That also means military. We need to just reconstitute and retool our military to be a strike only force. You strike at us, you get a nice response. So in my world, we have no abortion, no death penalty, no prison for drug offenders, and a strictly defensive military.
