Ex-CIA Chief Blasts Cheney

Posted Apr 27, 07 8:03 CDT in US Politics Arts & Living

(Newser) – George Tenet offers a scathing attack on Dick Cheney and other architects of the war in Iraq in a new book to be released Monday, the New York Times reports.  The former CIA director alleges that "there was never serious debate" about whether Iraq was an imminent threat to the U.S., or discussion of containing Saddam without invading.

In At the Center of the Storm Tenet is also keen to explain his famous remark that the case for Saddam's weapons of mass destruction was a "slam dunk." He says the phrase was taken out of context by Cheney to make him a scapegoat.
