Date Game With Murder Suspect Drew Peterson Ditched

Posted Jan 24, 08 3:12 AM CST in US    Most Popular

(Newser) – After some careful reflection, Chicago radio executives have decided their station won't host a dating game featuring former cop Drew Peterson, who's suspected of killing his missing fourth wife—and his third wife. Peterson may be back in the market for a new spouse because he told Chicago's WJMK-FM in a surprise phone call that "the ladies are coming back around."

His lawyer pitched the idea of a "Win a Date With Drew Peterson" contest to the morning show and the program host offered to act as chaperone "to be on the safe side." Or not. The show was scheduled to air today, but the station's boss nixed the plan. "Holding a contest to win a date with a murder suspect trivializes women's safety for the sake of humor," said one angry victims' rights advocate.
