UFOs? Air Force Says Nope

Posted Jan 23, 08 7:32 PM CST in US    Most Covered

(newser) – Those mysterious lights flitting across the Texas sky earlier this month were military jet fighters, not alien ships, the Air Force said today. The lights prompted dozens of reports of UFO sightings, and the mystery grew when the military initially said it had no aircraft in the area. Today, the Air Force backtracked and said it made a mistake—but true believers aren't buying it, the Dallas Morning News reports.

"We have witnesses who could clearly distinguish the difference between an F-16 and some extraordinary craft performing in a manner not typical of an aircraft," said a leader of a state UFO group. So what gives? Don't ask the Air Force. "What we do down there falls under operational procedures that cannot be released because of operations security for our mission," said one honcho.
