LA Cops Arrest Suspect in Beach Crash
No motive yet, as lone victim identified

(Newser) – Los Angeles police have charged a suspect with murder, alleging that he was the driver who plowed his car through a crowded boardwalk on Venice Beach, killing one and injuring at least 11. Nathan Campbell, 38, is currently being held on $1 million bail, reports the LA Times, though police haven't released a motive. Witnesses describe a driver plowing through crowds of people at 60mph, though other accounts cite slower speeds. Thirty-two-year-old Alice Gruppioni of Italy has been identified as the fatality in the incident. Partial video of the crash is available here, and here of its aftermath.

Enough is enough. It is time we institute vehicle registration and require licensing for the operation of these dangerous weapons!
