Punctuating their best first half in franchise history, the Hornets handily defeated Portland 96-81 last night, AP reports. The victory extended the current season-high winning streak to six. Reserve Jannero Pargo scored a season-best 24 points in a mere 24 minutes, garnering five assists along the way. The Hornets have won 14 of their last 16 games.
Pargo's impressive run helped to eradicate a 12-point deficit in the second quarter, pushing New Orleans past the Trail Blazers for good. David West, Chris Paul and Peja Stojakovic also put up double digits for the Hornets. The Trail Blazers, led by LaMarcus Aldridge's 17 points, dropped to 25-17 with the loss, falling a half game behind Denver in the Northwest.
