Guards on the Michigan side of the US-Canada border made a bizarre late-night bust: A Canadian smuggler in full scuba gear bringing eight pounds of marijuana across the border. The frogman was busted after a tipster called police to report somebody swimming across the St. Clair River, reports the Sarnia Observer. Authorities warn that the river is a busy shipping lane and trying to swim across is foolhardy—especially at night. "If there’s a freighter coming through there, there’s no way for a freighter to stop. That’s a very, very dangerous thing to do," a customs spokesman says. (More Michigan stories.)
