Bales Apologizes for Afghan Massacre
Says it was the 'act of a coward'

(Newser) – Staff Sgt. Robert Bales, the soldier who plead guilty to killing 16 Afghan civilians in a shooting rampage last year, apologized in court at his sentencing hearing.
“‘What I did was the act of a coward,’ said Bales in court. ‘I am sorry, truly, truly sorry, for what I did to those people.
