(Newser) – With a Western strike on Syria looking more likely by the hour, Israel mobilized some of its reservists and beefed up its missile defenses today, Reuters reports. But apart from that move, the country seemed strangely nonplussed by the furor surrounding its neighbor and longtime enemy. "Following a security assessment held today, there is no reason for a change to normal routines," Benjamin Netanyahu said. He said Israel wanted to stay out of Syria's war but was "preparing for any scenario."

Israel's lobbyists in Washington have also been surprisingly quiet, Politico observes, even though the Obama administration would dearly like to see them drum up support for action in a reluctant Congress. Many veteran lobbyists privately say they feel stung by the criticism they took for supporting the Iraq war. Other insiders say the groups are mirroring Israel's caution. "They don't want this to be seen as a Jewish or Israel war," says one activist, adding that "there are some real issues with the rebels here."

At first I wanted too bomb the crap out of Syria but I don't feel the same now cause it's a civil war and the fact that none of the cowardly countries in the middle east want nothing to do with it so why should we? They can take the entire middle east and turn it into a mud puddle for all I care. Obama should work on what our country needs and that's not another war. I don't know but maybe Obama and everybody else that's calling for us to bomb Syria should take their asses over there and fight those bastards like they been sending our troops on deployment after deployment. I have an idea LET'S GET THE HELL OUT OF THE MIDDLE EAST AND LAEVE THEM TO THEIR OWN DEMISE THEY DAMN DON'T NEED ANY HELP FROM US.

By reading the comments below, I can't understand why Israel whould want too call up some of reservists. I mean there is so much love and respect for the jewish people. Why should they be concerned?

Who cares about Syria or Israel. A big waste of time and money driven by the AIPAC propaganda machine. America should destroy both and use the land as a garbage dump, then level it off and build an amusement park so us Goyims can eat ice cream and hot dogs.and have fun.
