Mighty Celtics Hold Off Lowly Timberwolves

(Newser) – Kendrick Perkins scored with 16.6 seconds left as the Boston Celtics survived at home against the struggling Minnesota Timberwolves 87-86 last night, the AP reports. The Timberwolves, 7-34, had a chance for the win, but their former teammate Kevin Garnett poked the ball away to clinch the game. Perkins led the Celtics, 33-7, with 21 points. In other NBA action:

  • The Washington Wizards held the Memphis Grizzlies to nine first-quarter points and Antawn Jamison had 24 points and 12 rebounds in a 104-93 win.
  • Chris Bosh led a 19-0 third-quarter run and finished with 32 points to lead the Toronto Raptors to a 106-75 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
