(Newser) – Notre Dame handed No. 18 Villanova its second straight Big East loss with a 90-80 win this afternoon, reports the Associated Press. Kyle McAlarney scored 30 points, Luke Harangody had 25 points and 10 rebounds, and the Fighting Irish (14-4, 4-2) hit nine 3-pointers. The Wildcats (13-4, 3-4) lost to Rutgers Wednesday. In other Top 25 action:

No. 2 Kansas (20-0, 5-0) jumped out to an early lead and rode 18 points from Darrell Arthur and 17 from Brandon Rush for an 84-49 Big 12 win over Nebraska (11-6, 0-4).
Matt Howard scored in double figures for the 12th straight game with 20 points as No. 15 Butler (19-2, 8-2) beat Illinois-Chicago (10-10, 4-5) 73-57 in a Horizon League game.

It marked it a clean sweep for the No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament, another first. Davidson's Stephen Curry scored 25 points but couldn't get off a potential winning shot in the final seconds. (NEWSER) - Kansas had its third straight cakewalk of the tournament, surging ahead of 12th-seeded Villanova early and never looking back in a 72-57 victory at Ford Field in Detroit. The Jayhawks were led by Brandon Rush with 16 points, and Russell Robinson, who had 15 and played excellent defense on Villanova's Scottie Reynolds, holding him to 11, reports the Kansas City Star. So Long, Sooners As Louisville Moves On

Cardinals trounce Oklahoma, 78-48

(NEWSER) - The Big East sent more teams to the NCAA tournament than any other conference this year, and will have as many as any conference in the Regional Semifinals, too, as three of the eight remain. Louisville is among them, after annihilating No. 6 seed Oklahoma, 78-48. The Cardinals led 44-22 at halftime when they ended the first half with a 26-8 run. That trend continued in the second. More»
