Redskins Dump Williams and Saunders

Posted Jan 26, 08 6:16 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Last week it looked like Gregg Williams would be the head coach of the Washington Redskins. Today Williams is looking for a job. Williams, the Redskins defensive coordinator, and Al Saunders, Washington's offensive coordinator, were released by the team today, according the Washington Post. Greg Blache takes over for Williams and Jim Zorn replaces Saunders.

"I want to thank Gregg and Al for all they did for the team," owner Daniel Snyder said. Snyder went on to say the search for a new head coach is on track, but no decisions will be made until after the Super Bowl. Joe Gibbs retired after the season, two years after coming out of his first retirement to coach his former team.
